Founder & Vision Bearer | Upper Glorious Room Prayer Center

Pastor Christophe Nkurunziza

His Story

Pastor Christophe Nkurunziza is a refugee from Burundi who was called by God from his childhood while serving in a Baptist church in Burundi. Despite the challenges of displacement and starting a new life in a foreign land, he remained faithful to God's calling upon his life.

Arriving in Uganda with his family refugees, he carried a vision from God to establish a ministry that would teach, spread the gospel, and bring many to God. With nothing but faith and determination, he began gathering believers for prayer and fellowship.

The Day It All Began

September 28, 2019 - A day that will forever be remembered in the history of this ministry.

On that day, 26 people gathered together—12 women, 7 men, and 7 children—marking the birth of what would become a movement reaching thousands across multiple districts in Uganda and beyond.

The Evolution of Our Name

The church first started with the name "Upper Room Christian Ministries Kikuube" because it was located in Kikuube District. As God blessed the ministry, branches were opened in Hoima District and Gomba District.

However, as the ministry expanded, the name became difficult to use in different areas. For example, churches would have to be called "Upper Room Christian Ministries Kikuube Hoima" or "Upper Room Christian Ministries Kikuube Gomba" - which was not practical.

Because of this challenge, a general conference was organized, and the members came together to pray and seek God's direction. After much deliberation and agreement, the church decided to change its name.

Therefore, from 11 May 2026, the ministry officially changed its name to:

Upper Glorious Room Prayer Center

"We thank God for standing with us in every aspect of His ministry. To Him be the glory for what He has done and continues to do through this church." — Pasotr Christophe Nkurunziza
